Bobcat Thicket - VT

Location: Brookline, VT

Acreage: 4.8 acres

Forest Steward: Anonymous

About the forest:

A large storm knocked down many of the more mature trees several years ago and the thick undergrowth has since taken over, creating a unique habitat for a wide range of animals. It is particularly popular for bobcats that build their dens in this area. They enjoy the safe shelter your their cubs and the abundant source of rabbits, squirrels, birds, and other small game that live here.

The many fallen trees also provide excellent conditions for insects, pollinators, snakes, and frogs.

This forest is not easily traveled by humans and other large animals, making this ecosystem stand out as part of the wider Selcombe forest.
