Stewardship explained in 5 steps
At it’s core, the Selcombe Forest Stewardship Program model is simple, and designed for full transparency, accountability, and real impact. No abstraction, no endless bureaucracy - just results that you can see, understand, and participate in.
1. Selcombe identified and acquires strategic forest
Selcombe selects forests that are acologically valuable, often overlooked, or crucial for connected habitat and wildlife movement. Once identified, we acquire the land and prepare if for long-temr stewardship.
2. The forest is enrolled in the stewardship program
After aquisition, the forest is enroleld into the Selcombe Forest Stewardship Program. Selcome assumes all ownership responsibilities, including management, insurance, administrative duties, and preservation, so you do not have to.
3. A steward sponsors the forest dedicated to conservation
Individuals and organizations can choose to sponsor a forest that has been enrolled. As a steward, you fund the preservation efforts while Selcombe manages the day-to-day responsibilities. Your stewardship is tied to real acreage, with clear documentation and accountability.
4. The forest is protected, and preservation begins
Once stewarded, each forest receives a tailored stewardship framework and management plan. You’ll receive detailed documentation, including maps, photos, GPS coordinates, and regular reporting on ecological health, progress, and conservation outcomes.
5. The steward becomes an active participant in forest preservation
Stewards are part of the conservation journey. You receive annual forest health updates, reports on progress and key achievements, and documentation of wildlife activity. Stewards are also invited to visit the land with a conservation scientist to experience first-hand the impact of their participation.
